Josh Groban has released his brand new album Bridges!
The new album features collaborations with artists like Andrea Bocelli, Jennifer Nettles, and Sarah McLachlan.
Josh opened up to Time about the story that his album tells.
“I had just come off of Broadway [in Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812], almost 300 performances where you’re sitting around in your dressing room waiting to go on for endless hours with a little piano in front of you. When that stopped, the ideas just poured out of the walls,” Josh said.
“After leaving the show and feeling like the world was in a tailspin, going to the studio every day to write was so cathartic,” he added. “It was like exorcising this demon of how we felt in the world. Because of that, it actually didn’t come out as this sorrow-filled, melancholy thing. It came out as this hopeful, optimistic, rhythmic energy.”

Josh Groban uncovers the track listing for his anxiously awaited eighth full-length studio album, Bridges, available September 21st via Reprise Records. The set will be available on standard and deluxe CD. Fans who pre-order the album will unlock instant grat downloads of recent singles “Granted” and “Symphony” as well as “S’il Suffisait D’Aimer.”
Consisting of nine songs co-written by Groban, it marks the first album to feature his writing since 2013’s All That Echoes.
“I wanted to find a balance,” Groban says of the new record. “That’s one of the reasons behind the title. I’ve always enjoyed singing about light and dark and love and loss as well as friendship. I really emphasized choosing the songs and the order to serve a continuity of energy. The album is about learning lessons, appreciating when love comes your way, being Zen about it when love leaves, and keeping a more energetic and positive spirit moving forward. Music has that way of uniting people unlike anything else in the world. This time, I felt more comfortable writing. I’m really conveying my message and story.”
Beyond the recently released tracks, the standard incarnation features 12 new songs, including a historic Italian duet with Andrea Bocelli entitled “We Will Meet Once Again,” in addition to the studio recording of the live fan favorite “Run” featuring Sarah McLachlan and a collaboration alongside Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles on “99 Years.”
Over the course of Bridges, Groban delivers a dynamic, diverse, and definitive body of work. “River” stands out as an emotional track wherein his powerhouse tone underscores the details of the rejuvenating effect of walking to the Hudson River alongside his dog. Meanwhile, “Musica Del Corazon” continues a lifelong love affair with the romance languages as Groban belts in Spanish backed by the fleet-fingered fret fireworks of world-renowned virtuosic classical guitarist Vicente Amigo. The conclusion “Bigger Than Us” sees him carry an uplifting message of unity to the heavens and back with inspiring charisma and spirit as the hook-“I feel so small with my hands up to the sky, I am reaching up tonight ‘cuz this is bigger than us”-soars.
The Deluxe Edition features a soulful and striking cover of Billy Joel’s “She’s Always A Woman” as well as two other songs.
To bring this vision to life, he recorded in Los Angeles, London and New York with multiple producers including Bernie Herms and Toby Gad, Steve Jordan, Dan Huff, and others.
Expanding his influence, Groban co-stars on the highly anticipated new Netflix original series, The Good Cop, alongside Tony Danza. The series begins streaming on September 21st, the same day Bridges arrives.
The singer will embark on a fall 2018 arena tour supported by Tony-Award winning, multi-platinum recording artist and actress, Idina Menzel.

Today, multi-platinum award-winning singer/songwriter and global superstar Josh Groban announced his 8th studio album entitled, Bridges, which will be released on September 21st via Reprise Records. The album is available for pre-order now HERE, and fans who pre-order the album will receive three instant grat downloads of new songs including: the new single, 'Granted,' along with songs 'Symphony' and 'S'il Suffisait D'Aimer.' The album will also be available as a Deluxe, which will include two bonus tracks.
'With Bridges I wanted to create an album that took me back to the spirit of how I made my first ones but with a modern approach and with so many more years of stories to tell,' says Groban. 'I felt so good and so inspired making this album, more than ever before, with friends old and new taking part. It both 'bridges' my musical worlds old and new, and also hopefully plays a small part in connecting people in that unique way music can.'
This is Groban's first album that includes original music since 2013. Recorded in Los Angeles, London and New York with multiple producers including Bernie Herms and Toby Gad, Steve Jordan, Dan Huff, and others. This album also finds Josh singing in multiple languages including English, French, Italian and Spanish. There will also be a couple of exciting duets, to be announced at a later date.
Earlier this month, Groban co-hosted the 72nd Annual Tony® Awards alongside Sara Bareilles at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The broadcast this year drew 6.3 million viewers on CBS, an increase of 4 percent from the 6 million who watched last year. The pair were praised for their hosting abilities: 'Bareilles and Groban aced their duties on their own terms, displaying terrific chemistry and making it less about themselves than their infectious enthusiasm as out-and-proud theater geeks' (The Hollywood Reporter), 'From a song about 'the people who lose' to another about the life of a Broadway star, the pair rocked it' (The Huffington Post), 'It's safe to say that the evening's host and Broadway-loving BFFs Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban made Broadway magic as emcees' (Broadway.com).
Groban recently wrapped filming for the new Netflix original series, The Good Cop, starring opposite Tony Danza. The first teaser trailer for the series is out now, watch it HERE. The show will be available for streaming on September 21st.
